Stockholm All Star Festival – Skeppsholmen 2011
Stockholm All Star Festival on Skeppsholmen, 24–28 August 2011, was created and organised by Tommy Mattsson and Joakim Stenhammar with StreetPromotion – The Streets, Tommy Emmanuel, Alpha Blondy and Timbuktu.
The festival returns to Skeppsholmen
Stockholm All Star Festival was held on Skeppsholmen on 24–28 August 2011. The festival was created and organised by Tommy Mattsson and Joakim Stenhammar together with StreetPromotion – the same team behind Nytorgsfesten and Riddarholmsfesten.
Skeppsholmen has a long festival history. Bosse Stenhammar organised festivals on the island from 1980, and the last Stockholm Jazz & Blues Festival in 1999 closed with Ray Charles in front of 10,000 people. In 2011 Joakim Stenhammar brought the festival back to Skeppsholmen, aiming to make the public party as important as the concerts.
Five days, five themes
Wednesday featured The Streets, T-Pain, Petter, PH3 and Niklas von Arnold. Thursday was Guitar People’s Day with Tommy Emmanuel, Joe Robinson, Jojje Wadenius and Göran Söllscher. Friday’s Reggae Splash was headlined by Alpha Blondy together with Gondwana and Governor Andy.
On Saturday Hoffmaestro and Timbuktu & Damn! took the stage, and Sunday closed with a family day and Circus Fire Night with Burnt Out Punks and Cirkör Event, among others. Food stalls and restaurant tents surrounded the stages.
In total, 25,000 people visited the festival.
What we did for the festival
As organiser, StreetPromotion was responsible for production and marketing: posters, flyers and street teams across Stockholm ahead of the festival.
The tradition lives on in Jazz & Blues All Star Festival on Skeppsholmen.
